A fair refund & cancellation policy
Effective date: 7 September 2026
Bad refund policies are infuriating. You feel like the company is just trying to rip you off. We never want our customers to feel that way, so our policy is simple — and it starts with a guarantee.
The 30-day money-back guarantee
If you upgrade to a paid plan and Boetbook isn't right for you, email [email protected] within 30 days of your first successful payment and we will refund that payment in full. No reasons required, no questions asked. Refunds go back to the card you paid with, via our payment processor Paystack, and typically reflect within a few business days depending on your bank.
This guarantee is more generous than the 7-day cooling-off right that section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act gives consumers, so you never need to work out whether that section applies to you — our 30 days covers it either way.
Cancelling your plan
- You cancel yourself, in about two clicks, from the secure billing page linked in Settings → Billing inside the app. No phone call, no retention flow, no questions asked.
- When you cancel, you keep full paid access until the end of the period you've already paid for, and you won't be billed again.
- After that, your organization moves to the Free plan. Nothing is deleted — every client, job, and invoice stays readable, and nobody is logged out. You just can't add new records past a Free limit until you upgrade again.
- Outside the 30-day guarantee, we don't automatically prorate the unused part of your last billing cycle.
Beyond the guarantee: we'll still treat you fairly
Some examples of refunds we'd grant even after the 30 days:
- If you were just charged for your next month but you meant to cancel, we're happy to refund that extra charge.
- If you forgot to cancel a couple of months ago and you haven't used the account since, we'll give you a refund for those back months. No problem.
- If we had extended downtime that genuinely got in the way of your work, we'd consider a partial credit.
Nearly everything on the edges comes down to a case-by-case basis. Send us a note at [email protected], tell us what's up, and we'll work with you to make sure you're treated fairly. Nothing in this policy limits any right a consumer has under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or ECTA.
Deleting your data
Cancelling never deletes your data — it just moves you to the Free plan. If you want your data gone, ask us to delete your account from the account owner's email address. Content is permanently removed from active systems within 30 days and from provider backups within 60 days, as set out in our Terms of Service. Export anything you want to keep first — deletion is permanent.
